As a girl, Kari had vacationed in Teton Village with her family and adored the scenery—especially the mountains. “I always said my wedding would be there one day,” she remembers. When she and Kyle got engaged, he loved the idea. “The weather in the mountains is perfect—cool and sunny,” says Kyle. The two Texans planned a cosy destination wedding at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole. “I had a vision of what I wanted, and with my mom’s help, and communications with Resort staff and our vendors, it turned out amazing,” says Kari.
Mountain Peaks . . . Lush Greenery . . . Pastel Blooms
The Scene: “Our wedding was very intimate, with only about 20 close friends and family in attendance,” explains the bride. The couple designed an elegant, shabby-chic affair with a soft palette of ivory, ballet-slipper pink and green. The ceremony was set on the Resort’s front lawn, where the couple and their guests were surrounded by lush greenery and pastel blooms. The wedding party toasted the newlyweds on the terrace, where one long banquet table was set with an assortment of low floral arrangements.
Magical Moment: After so many months in a long-distance relationship, Kyle and Kari were overcome with emotion when they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. “We were overwhelmed with joy that our day had finally arrived,” Kari says.
The Bride & Groom: An online dating site actually brought these two together—although they later learned that, though they lived over 100 miles apart, they had many mutual friends. “After our first date, I called my mom and told her I was going to marry Kari,” says Kyle. The couple maintained a long-distance relationship for several months, and around the Christmas holidays they declared their love for each other. A few weeks later, Kyle made reservations for dinner at their favourite restaurant. On the way there, he surprised Kari with an “impromptu” visit to The Corpus Christi Water Gardens. They strolled around the fountains for a bit until he got down on bended knee and proposed. “Afterwards,” Kari recalls, “we enjoyed a nice dinner together while we texted and called everyone we knew to share the news!”
The Bride Wore: “My dress was very Grace Kelly,” says Kari. She chose a Maggie Sottero lace gown with a chapel train and open back, and accessorized it with ivory peep-toe pumps, a pearl bracelet and diamond chandelier earrings.
The Groom Wore: Kyle opted for a beige three-piece suit with a pink tie that coordinated beautifully with the wedding’s serene colours.
The Honeymoon: The newlyweds honeymooned at Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole. “The staff was amazing and made us feel welcome, calling me by my new last name,” says Kari. The couple spent their days whitewater rafting, and exploring Yellowstone National Park and Jenny Lake. “In the evenings we relaxed around the fire pit,” says Kyle.
A Personal Touch: The bride’s nieces—Taylor Grace and Kate—acted as flower girls. For the processional, Taylor Grace, in a pale pink dress and floral wreath, carried a sign that read “Uncle Kyle . . . here comes your bride!”
