Mariangela and Francesco didn’t realize until after they selected their wedding venue just how deep their family’s Four Seasons roots run. As it turned out, Francesco’s father had proposed to his mother at a Four Seasons, and Mariangela’s parents viewed Four Seasons Hotel Toronto as their home away from home when they first moved to Canada from Italy many years ago. So it seems fitting that Four Seasons Hotel Toronto should welcome Mariangela and Francesco for their wedding.
The Scene: For her romantic wedding, Mariangela chose a colour palette of ivory, blush and silver. At the reception, crystals dangled in the ballroom, tablescapes were adorned with glimmers of silver and pink, and the dance floor was awash in subdued violet. The menu showcased the couple’s proud Italian heritage with butternut squash risotto, eggplant ravioli, polenta with mascarpone and—to keep guests grooving through the night—a full espresso station.
The Bride and Groom: Ever since their first date at a U2 concert years ago, the couple has been making beautiful music together. They were delighted to celebrate their devotion with their closest family and friends. “I’ve heard from other couples who didn’t even get to taste their food, but we enjoyed every moment because we were in such good hands,” recalls Mariangela. “All of the servers were so kind and attentive; I’m still getting letters from guests that say our wedding was the best they’d ever experienced.”
The Bride Wore: For the ceremony, Mariangela wore a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with a sheer bolero and pale pink Christian Dior shoes. For the reception, she removed her bolero and slipped into her gold Jimmy Choo heels so she could comfortably dance the night away.
A Personal Touch: Each bundle of macaron wedding favours included a message regarding the newlyweds’ donation to Safe Kids Canada in their guests’ names. The donation was in memory of one of Francesco’s childhood friends.
The Honeymoon: Since so many family members from Italy decided to stay in Toronto after the wedding, the newlyweds delayed their honeymoon so they could spend as much time with their family as possible. The couple honeymooned in January at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui and Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Thailand.
