Considering Austin’s picture-perfect autumn weather, an outdoor wedding at Four Seasons Hotel Austin was the natural choice for Shelly Troberman-Miller and Andrew Miller’s picture-perfect fall fête. Overlooking Lady Bird Lake, the Hotel’s sprawling lawn offered the ideal match of simplicity and sophistication that the couple envisioned for their big day. “I wanted it to be elegant, but not overly formal. I don’t like to overdo anything,” says Shelly.
Fall Touches . . . Southern Charm . . . Rustic Romance
The Scene: Elegance with a hint of Southern tradition inspired the Texas Hill Country celebration, which included an outdoor ceremony and dinner followed by an indoor dancing reception. Sparkling mercury glass accents and crystal chandeliers covered with ivory hydrangeas and blush roses punctuated the event’s neutral palette, while seasonal touches added whimsy and warmth. “I hand painted mini pumpkins white and gold for the place cards, and we had a very popular caramel apple station for the favours,” says Shelly.
Magical Moment: The bride made her big entrance onto the Hotel’s back lawn to the music of Barton Strings, a locally renowned 10-piece ensemble. “It all happened so fast, but I remember the first moment I saw Andrew when I was walking down the aisle with my dad,” says Shelly.
The Bride & Groom: In a whirlwind romance, Shelly, a private practice attorney, and Andrew, a real estate VIP, were introduced, began dating and became engaged all within six months. “We first met at a charity gala,” says Shelly. “One of my best friends here in the city arranged it without either of us knowing.” Andrew enlisted the help of Shelly’s new Havanese puppy, Bedila, to pop the question. “He put the ring around her collar and she came running into my bedroom. She was precious!” recalls the bride.
The Bride Wore: Shelly struck bridal gold with a tailored Venus wedding gown. “It was the first dress I tried on. I absolutely loved it and never tried on another one,” she says of the dress, which boasts a chic cascading back. A pearl necklace and rhinestone earrings from Kate Spade, a netted hairpiece, and her mother’s diamond tennis bracelet added classic Southern charm to the elegant ensemble. For the end of the reception, Shelly slipped into a flirty cocktail dress and chic booties, both from the Vera Wang White Collection.
A Personal Touch: During the indoor reception, guests donned colourful masks on the dance floor in a nod to the couple’s history. “One of our first dates was on Halloween, and because I like to dress up, I actually wore a masquerade mask,” says Shelly.
