Long-time couple Jillian and Joe knew that they wanted a destination wedding, and after visiting several venues, they fell in love with Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “The Resort’s private location, supreme service and amenities really made our hearts sing,” says the bride. Having taken several trips to Mexico in the past also provided the couple with a number of fun ideas, and they even designed a lot of elements themselves, including the welcome bags and programmes.
High School Sweethearts . . . Beachside Ceremony . . . Piñata
The Scene: For the ceremony, paper lanterns and decorative stars hung from the surrounding manzanilla trees, and straw raffia fans were placed on every chair. Since the wedding was taking place on the sand surrounded by the glistening ocean, Jillian chose royal blue as the official wedding colour, accents of which were incorporated into everything from the candy-filled piñata to the bride’s bouquet.
Magical Moment: Jillian walked down the petal-strewn aisle as the guitarist played “I’m Yours.” During the ceremony, the couple and their parents took turns pouring blue and tan sand into a heart-shaped container to signify the blending of their two families.
The Bride & Groom: Having met 12 years ago as sophomores in high school, both Jillian and Joe were thrilled to tie the knot officially in front of all their loved ones in such a beautiful locale.
The Bride Wore: Jillian chose a lightweight gown with flowing organza layers by Allure for her beach wedding. “I loved the simplicity of it, yet the diamond sash made the whole dress pop,” she says. On her feet were a pair of Kate Spades in the perfect shade of royal blue, and her jewellery comprised particularly meaningful pieces. “I wore a necklace that my mom had custom made with her diamond ring—it’s a beautiful piece that I will cherish forever,” says Jillian. That morning, Joe had also given her a gorgeous diamond tennis bracelet and matching teardrop earrings.
A Personal Touch: Wanting their guests to feel comfortable upon arriving at the Resort, Jillian and Joe made everyone a special welcome bag filled with tons of goodies. Spanish-English dictionaries; a “Welcome Week Survival Kit” with ibuprofen, sunscreen and Band-Aids; and bottles of custom-made “Faron’s Hot Sauce” were just a few of the things the lucky guests were given for the special occasion.
