Ever since she was a little girl Jacqueline had dreamed of a winter wonderland wedding, while her groom, Kent, wanted an old-fashioned atmosphere. The couple decided on a black-tie affair in Santa Barbara on New Year’s Eve so they could ring in the new year as husband and wife.
Formal . . . Winter-Themed . . . Metallics
The scene: For her winter-themed wedding, Jacqueline chose a black-and-white colour palette. The bride and bridesmaids carried all-white bouquets, and white blooms with silver and gold accents decorated the reception tables. To coordinate, the bridesmaids wore long black gowns by Tadashi, and the groom and groomsmen dressed in classic black tuxedos.
Magical moment: As the couple lit their unity candle, they both glanced over their shoulders and were moved to see 200 relatives and friends who had packed into their wedding venue. “We looked back and then laughed together,” recalls Jacqueline. “It was such a happy moment.”
The bride and groom: Recently married friends told the couple that their wedding day would go by quickly and that it was important to stop every now and then to take it all in. Before the big day, Kent and Jacqueline created a secret hand signal so that during the wedding reception they could gesture to each other as a reminder to stop and take a look around.
The bride wore: After she got engaged, Jacqueline went online to look at wedding dresses and fell in love with the first one she saw, a strapless Oscar de la Renta ball gown with a cascading ruffle skirt.
A personal touch: The bride and her mother wore matching Jimmy Choo shoes—the bride’s in silver and her mom’s in a golden hue to match her Monique Lhuillier gown.
The vision Kent and Jacqueline wanted for their formal winter wedding was brought to life in the sophisticated ballroom setting of Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. “Everything was grand,” says the bride.
