Being overseas until the week before the wedding, Carol relied on her Four Seasons Hotel Sydney wedding specialist, Sandra Merz, perhaps more than most brides. During the critical period just before the wedding, when everything needed to come together, “Sandra made the whole process seamless due to her responsiveness and attention to detail,” says the bride.

Pinks . . . Festive Décor . . . All-Night After-Party

The scene: The wedding expressed elements important to the couple, such as their favourite colours and the fact that they got engaged in Bali surrounded by Carol’s favourite flowers and lots of candles after enjoying one of their favourite drinks, Champagne. The tables glowed with pink and white candles and vases of roses and lilies.

A personal touch: The bride’s “something borrowed” was a diamond necklace belonging to her mother-in-law.

The bride and groom: With their reception held at the Hotel’s Grand Ballroom, the bride and groom chose Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” for their first dance. Johnson entertained their guests when he moon-walked across the dance floor.

The bride wore: The bride chose an ivory A-line gown by Vera Wang. She liked the lightness of the dress and how easy it was to move in throughout the day. On her feet? Pink Louboutins!

That magical moment: Johnson shocked Carol when he got on stage to sing the Chinese song she had sung to him when they first met at a karaoke bar six years earlier. “I was so surprised that he remembered,” says the bride. He also surprised her with Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are,” accompanied by his best man.

For Carol and Johnson, every moment of their wedding was a highlight. After a fun and festive reception, they enjoyed a huge after-party that didn’t end until sunrise the following morning— the perfect way to greet their first full day as husband and wife.
