With a classic, clean look in mind, Alex Hsiao and Nicole Zhang sought a wedding venue that would reflect their vision. Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC was the ideal choice. “The Georgetown location was perfect,” says the bride, “and we knew they would provide us with impeccable service.” The couple worked with wedding planner Jodi Moraru of Evoke DC to create a timeless design with contemporary sensibilities for the ceremony, reception and after-party.

Sleek & White . . . Subtle Shimmer . . . Timeless Elegance

The Scene: High and low arrangements of white orchids adorned the ceremony altar, hanging crystals were strung throughout the ballroom, and a variety of white blooms were set above and below crystal candelabras on the reception tables.

Magical Moment: “There were so many special instants,” recalls the bride. “But the day’s most enchanting moment was right after my father walked me down the aisle and passed my hand to my future husband’s.”

The Bride & Groom: Nicole was a long-time friend of Alex’s brother Russell, so the future bride and groom often travelled in the same circle. One night in 2007, Russell asked both of them out; Alex was smitten. After running into Nicole at a mutual friend’s party, Alex asked her out on a date, and the two soon became inseparable.

In 2010, Alex decided to pop the question, but schedule conflicts kept interrupting. Finally, he asked her to marry him while the two were walking back from the pharmacy with toiletries for her folks who were in town. “I don’t remember every single word,” shares Nicole, “I just remember how happy I was.”

The Bride Wore:  Nicole wore a fitted, strapless Pronovias wedding dress that she chose for its elegant, sophisticated design. She accessorized her satin gown with strappy gold Salvatore Ferragamo stilettos.

A Personal Touch: Before the wedding, Nicole’s parents gave her what would be her something new and something blue: A diamond necklace and bracelet set paired with diamond and blue sapphire earrings.
