Several new designers launched a bridal collection at this spring’s Bridal Market, including two lines that will be exclusive to Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. Designer and television personality Isaac Mizrahi didn’t disappoint with his black, white and pink gowns. The mix of classic silhouettes with gingham accents, contrasting corset ribbons and colourful sashes was playful while still being traditional.
Mark Zunino has been known in Hollywood for his red-carpet style, and now brides can have their star moment in one of his gowns. The majority of the dresses in the collection were mermaid silhouettes to show off a girl’s curves, but the detailing varied from illusion necklines and sleeves to floral appliqués and beading that shimmered.
Former Jewel by Priscilla of Boston designer Kelly Faetanini’s eponymous line includes a selection of timeless gowns with a modern twist. Each gown features a number of customization options for brides to choose from. The collection featured dresses in lightweight fabrics with a range of detailing—crystal flowers, satin ribbons and fabric manipulation. As for the custom options, they include altering the skirt length, adding or removing beading, detachable illusion and one-shoulder sashes, and modifying the waistband appliqués.
While the majority of wedding gowns this season were light and airy with limited embellishments, the new Victor Harper collection was the exact opposite. Heavy satin ball gowns and mermaids were encrusted with ornate beading and embroidery in silver and gold.
Here’s a gallery of some of the best wedding dresses from these new collections.
