Updated May 10, 2012—On May 8, Four Seasons hosted a live, global #LuxBride Twitter chat dedicated to all things luxury weddings. Experts, brides-to-be and wedding planners from around the world were on hand to answer questions and discuss trends, fashion, rings and so much more. Here’s a recap:

Every #LuxBride dreams of finding the perfect gown. Any dress shopping tips?

When dress shopping, my tips are to go with an open mind, shop with fun and honest friends and have fun!
—@MyraRubin

Would love to see more designers offer pockets on wedding dresses! The demand from brides is huge!
—@AustinWeddings

Consider your destination for shoes when shopping for your wedding look, too. Paris cobblestones are lovely, but slippery when wet!
—@parisianparty

Don’t bring too many people! Too many cooks in the kitchen.
—@LaBellaPlanners

What is your favorite wedding trend of 2012?

Brides are borrowing cultural and traditional rituals from around the globe!
—@rasanyang

I love that couples are celebrating their combined heritage.
—@NissaGadbois

Dessert ice cream cones are a trend for late night!
—@FSDenver

Red is a hot colour trend.
—@FSBridal

Our fave LuxGraph find were penguins greeting guests. What’s the most unique wedding detail you’ve seen?

We have noticed larger number of bridesmaids and groomsmen … almost like a football team.
—@5starweddings

Indian wedding—groom arriving via elephant.
—@LiliBaldassari

It’s all about the FOOD. What hot new catering trends are you noticing?

Whoopie pies are the new cupcakes!
—@FSLasVegas

We’re so on board with whoopie pies!
—@briderush

I love “bars” at weddings—mimosa bar, s’more bar, slider bar, candy bar!
—@ilikeweddings

Does the bride’s wedding band have to match her engagement ring and the groom’s wedding band?

It’s nice if the bride and groom’s rings match. Unless the bride chooses a diamond band to sit with her engagement ring!
—@MarryMeWeddings

No, your groom’s wedding band doesn’t have to match your own. He might want classic platinum while you prefer diamonds.
—@TiffanyAndCo

AGREE—our couples like non-matching we’ve found. Or cuter, having a hidden connection in the rings only they know.
—@AtelierMinyon

Which wedding tradition will you be skipping at your wedding?

Assigned seating.
—@markellsteele

What are your top ideas for wedding party gifts?

Something personal. Jewellery to be used on the day of the wedding seems so passé.
—@marlenemontanez

What does everyone think of bowties for wedding party gifts?
—@eastsidefashion

Where are some of the most popular places to register? Any unexpected places?

We love registries at home improvement stores…lots of couples buying their first homes and love those gifts!
—@VicHentrich

For the honeymoon: urban escape or beach getaway? What are your top destination picks?

For ultimate honeymoon destination, Four Seasons Tented Camp is the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure!
—@LuxuryPRGal

Honeymoon beach gateway at Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh, and the spa at Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza.
—@nourelzeny

All of these #LuxBride tweets are making me so excited for our honeymoon at Four Seasons Maui.
—@lindsys

To theme or not to theme? What are the most popular—and most unusual—#LuxBride wedding themes?

Travel/wine themes that are personal to couple work. Movie themes are horrible, they become outdated quick.
—@marlenemontanez
