2012 World Gourmet Festival Heats Up in Bangkok
Celebrate all things food and wine with the masters during the 13th annual event this September.
Calling all food lovers! Be there to sample some of the finest cuisine from around the globe when eight accomplished chefs gather at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok for the highly anticipated 13th annual World Gourmet Festival. September 3–9, an extraordinary lineup of chefs will showcase their signature dishes for two nights each.
“Since we began the festival 13 years ago, we’ve been fortunate to welcome a lot of very famous names, as well as many young rising stars,” says Four Seasons Executive Chef Nicolas Schneller. “Having eight to ten chefs and other food and wine experts from different counties—all in the same week and all under the same roof—makes it a truly unique experience for guests, giving them plenty to choose from. The guest chefs also enjoy it, as it gives them the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and to make new professional friends.”
Festivalgoers not only will have the chance to partake in sumptuous gourmet dinners, but will also get an insider’s look at a variety of cooking styles as they enjoy the fine food and wine. Here are this year’s featured chefs:
• Shiqin Chen, La Rei, Il Boscareto Resort, Serralunga d’Alba, Italy
• Diego Irrera, 1884 Restaurante, Mendoza, Argentina
• Galvin Lim, Les Amis, Singapore
• Igor Macchia, La Credenza, Torino, Italy
• Michael Mina, MICHAEL MINA, San Francisco, USA
• Víctor Quintillà Imbernón, Lluerna, Barcelona, Spain
• Masa Shimakawa, ONYX, Los Angeles, USA
• Frédéric Vardon, LE 39V, Paris, France
“As always, the line-up this year looks very exiting, and we are very proud to welcome Michael Mina for the second time,” says Schneller. “I’m excited to meet all of the chefs, but being French myself, I am particularly interested in Frédéric Vardon. He’s trained and worked with famous master chefs in France including Alain Dutournier, Alain Chapel and Alain Ducasse, and was recently awarded a Michelin star.”
Held in addition to the festival’s nightly dinners will be special lunches, a Wine Master Class with Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee, a cheese tasting with Eleveur de Fromage Jean-Francois Antony, and a unique tea mixology session with Robert Schinkel, ambassador for Dilmah Tea. Your taste buds won’t want to miss a beat.
