Personal Tour: Cal Ripken’s Baltimore
The National Baseball Hall of Fame member has lived in or near Baltimore his whole life. Here, he shares his regional favourites. Yes, crabs are on his list.
This is a small city comprised of almost-tribal enclaves. Hampden, about 3 miles north of Inner Harbor, is where beehive hairdo, blue-collar Old Baltimore meets aching-to-be-hip New Baltimore. “Hampden is fantastic and pure Baltimore,” says Ripken. “Cafe Hon and all the local businesses that line the streets are a lot of fun. The HonFest in June is a hoot.”
