The culturally rich life experiences of photographer joSon play as a backdrop to
his transcendent images of such places as China, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Cambodia. Born in the Philippines to a Filipino-Chinese mother and African-American father, joSon moved to Vietnam at the age of 10 and studied to become a Buddhist monk. While that calling eventually was overshadowed by the lure of the lens, his work as a photographer of Asian destinations just as surely brings a sense of tranquility to those he touches through his art. joSon spends most of his time in New York and San Francisco, but clearly much of his heart remains in Asia.

Photographer joSon spent his early years in the Philippines and Vietnam, where he studied to be a monk. Love of photography led him to San Francisco and a degree from the Academy of Art University, but he remains true to his spiritual roots: “You can see clearly in my work today . . . meditations on the beauty to be found in the simplest of forms.”
