Adventure Travel Tips: Costa Rica
A Four Seasons Concierge guides you to a perfect day in the outdoors.
Concierge Andrea Arroyo of Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo has put together a day that confirms the area’s well-deserved reputation as a premier eco-adventure destination. Explore the region’s lush landscape and rich cultural traditions, dine on local specialties, and end the day by taking in stellar views of the night sky to experience Costa Rica as never before.
Spend the morning on horseback
A horseback ride at nearby El Aromel introduces you to Guanacaste’s traditional cowboy culture as you explore the region’s back country. The half-day excursion ends at the Hacienda with a cool drink and Costa Rican snacks.
Break at CR Burger
Stop for lunch at the Resort’s laid-back burger shack, CR Burger, and dig into a hearty Kobe beef burger, a mahi mahi lemon-grass burger, or refreshing watermelon pinchos—a local take on kebabs.
Follow the Trail of Giants
Go for a guided tour of the Resort’s Arnold Palmer–designed golf course, a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, and the surrounding tropical dry forest. The course and the forest are home to diverse wildlife, including butterflies and endangered birds. Along the way you’ll see howler and capuchin monkeys, and stunning Pacific Ocean views.
Dine with the chefs at Di Mare
Ask the Concierge to arrange a Chef’s Table experience at Di Mare, the Resort’s Italian restaurant. The experience puts up to 4 guests in the kitchen, where you’ll be served an exclusive menu by Di Mare’s chefs.
Stargaze the night away
End the day marvelling at the night sky with the help of the Resort’s new high-powered Meade LX200 telescope. The Resort’s hilltop location is ideal for stargazing (the region has been named one of the top places in the world to stargaze by Travel + Leisure). Novice but enthusiastic sky-watchers can call on Recreation Manager Luis Salas to provide charts and expertise.
