Four Seasons hosted a #bestofcity Twitter chat March 13 featuring Concierge Marie-Claire Sabogal from Four Seasons Hotel Dublin. Jonathan Epstein from @EpsteinTravels co-hosted the event. During the chat, these two insiders answered questions about the best dining, family-friendly places and sight-seeing opportunities in Dublin—just in time for St Patrick’s Day! Here are some of their top spots in Dublin:

Marie-Claire’s favourite place for good old Irish pub grub: O’Neill’s Bar on Suffolk Street—delicious Irish Stew and Dublin Coddle, which has sausage and bacon and is potato-based. The Fish Stew is also popular!

Jonathan’s favourite place for good old Irish pub grub: One of my favourite spots for pub grub is Davy Byrnes. It’s also great for James Joyce lovers.

Marie-Claire’s favourite coffee shop: I’d suggest The Bald Barista for great Dublin coffee. Bewley’s on Grafton Street would be an old-time fave.

Jonathan’s favourite place for tea: As a tea lover, I personally recommend Isle of Eriska.

Marie-Claire’s favourite traditional Irish dish: Colcannon mash is a fave. It has curly kale, scallions and potatoes—and lots of butter! Great comfort food.

Jonathan’s favourite pub: My favourite pub is O’Donoghues. Great location to have a pint and listen to Irish music.

Marie-Claire’s favourite places to take the kids: The Irish Museum of Modern Art has a great kids’ area in the restaurant Cafe itsa@imma. Also try Viking Splash Tours, Lambert Puppet Theatre, Dublin Zoo and Dublinia.

Marie-Claire’s favourite features of Four Seasons Hotel Dublin: The renowned service. Plus, guests love our beautiful conservatory windows. And the tapestries in ICE [one of the Hotel’s lounges] are stunning! Try our St Paddy’s day cocktail, The Full Irish.

Marie-Claire’s favourite way to learn more about St Patrick: A walking tour is a great way to learn more about St Patrick. Pat Liddy’s will lead you in his footsteps!

Marie-Claire’s favourite place to enjoy the St Patrick’s Day Festival: The best place for St Patrick’s Day Festival action is O’Connell Street, top of Dame Street, alongside the parade route.

Marie-Claire’s favourite place to watch the St Patrick’s Day Festival: Best places to watch the festival: Arlington Hotel Temple Bar or Bull & Castle pubs. The upstairs have great views of the parade!

Marie-Claire’s favourite St Patrick’s Day events: Besides the parade, head to Meeting House Square and lose yourself in the Ceili (an expression of Irish dance and music).

Marie-Claire’s favourite place to get away during St Patrick’s Day: If you’re trying to hide from Dublin’s St Paddy’s Day crowds, head outside the city centre and explore Howth or the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

Jonathan’s favourite place for a day trip: I strongly recommend Kilmainham Gaol.

Marie-Claire’s favourite place for a day trip: I agree—Kilmainham Gaol is a must! The Hop On/Hop Off Bus will maximize your day. Includes Guinness, Trinity College and more.

If it’s your first St Patrick’s in Dublin, don’t forget your umbrella! Another tip from Marie-Claire: If in you’re in Dublin on St Paddy’s Day and your name contains any form of “Pat,” you’ll get free admission to the Guinness Storehouse on March 17!

Jonathan also recommends the Gravity Bar at the Guinness Storehouse for the best view as well as the freshest pint.
