The coral formations of the Maldives provide a perfect place for manta rays to live and feed. From May through November, large numbers of rays converge on Hanifaru Bay to feast on planktonic animals.

Four Seasons Resorts Maldives offer an ideal base for exploring Indian Ocean sea life, including the thousands of manta rays that populate the waters of the atolls. Guy Stevens, lead marine biologist for the Resorts, founded the Maldivian Manta Ray Project to help protect the rays. Guests at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa or Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru who spot manta rays while snorkelling or diving are encouraged to share their photos to support the project’s research.
