Maldives Surfing Competition to Draw Pros, Fans
John Constable and Nat Young to join surfing greats Mark Richards, Layne Beachley and Barton Lynch as they make waves during the first-ever Four Seasons Resort Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy.
Updated August 11, 2011—World-class surfing destination Maldives will draw some of the greatest surfers of all time to vie for the first-ever Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Championship Trophy 2011.
The inaugural event starts August 29 at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa. North Malé Atoll’s big breaks and prime waves will set the stage for world-champion surfers to compete against each other—some for the very first time. Four Seasons’ luxury catamaran Four Seasons Explorer will serve as the judging platform for the event.
Just added to the roster of surfing legends is shortboard champion Josh Constable and Australian surfing icon Nat Young, who join Mark Richards, Layne Beachley and Barton Lynch as they show what made them champions while competing on Single Fin, Twin Fin and Thruster boards. The championship kicks off with a full-day event exclusively for local Maldivian surfers, giving the winner the chance to compete with the pro surfers.
The Four Seasons Surfing Champions Trophy will run August 29 through September 5. Visit The World’s Most Luxurious Surfing Event for more details, including a Champions Trophy package from Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa with an all-day pass to watch the competition from Four Seasons Explorer, half-day surfing passes with event coordinator Tropicsurf and a shark safari and dolphin cruise.
