Join travel blogger Rachelle Lucas at the Four Seasons Bali cooking school, and discover which spices make the island’s cuisine so flavourful.

If you’ve never tried authentic Balinese food, you’re missing out. At least that’s the word from travel blogger and Around the World journalist Rachelle Lucas and her counterpart, Adam H. Graham, who also shared his rather strong affinity for the local cuisine during his stop in Sayan.

The island’s rich natural resources create some of the most flavourful food in the world. Fertile volcanic soil can take much of the credit (coffee, rice, and root spices such as ginger and turmeric thrive under this condition), as can the excellent fishing.

During her visit to Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Lucas visited the local fish and produce market before heading to the Resort cooking school for a class with Chef Iwayan Ariana. She learned how to make several traditional Balinese dishes, including a pumpkin treat she loved so much that she shared the recipe on this site. In this video, Lucas talks with Chef Ariana about island flavours.
