At once sophisticated and laid back, Dallas has much to offer the seasoned business traveller. Besides the abundance of Tex-Mex cuisine, the glamour of the flagship Neiman-Marcus store and great golf at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas, there are several off-the-beaten path attractions not to be overlooked.

Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas Concierges Kevin Alderman and Lance Farris, Guest Relations Manager Nora Ruiz as well as savvy Dallas natives share their favourite stops, including some lesser-known gems. So whether you’re in town for a few short days or you visit often, try these Dallas suggestions to fill your downtime.

Crow Collection of Asian Art

The remarkable and sometimes overlooked Crow Collection of Asian Art is tucked away on the lobby level of the Trammell Crow Center in the heart of the Dallas Arts District downtown and faces another must-see—Nasher Sculpture Center. The museum was founded from the private collection and travels of Dallas’ Margaret and Trammell Crow. Admission is free, and parking is a breeze. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday, and there are guided tours of the permanent collection on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 1:00 pm. A favorite stop is the elevated, glass-enclosed walkway where visitors walk through thousands of origami cranes suspended from wires.

Shopping at 4510 McKinney

Locally owned and managed, Forty Five Ten is the ultimate Dallas insiders’ shopping destination. Located in the eclectic McKinney Avenue district just north of downtown Dallas, the intimate and sophisticated store offers a unique collection of clothing, accessories and gifts for men and women. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. The delightful T Room in the back of the store offers a light lunch from 11 am to 2:30 pm.

VIP Tour at Cowboys Stadium

The VIP tour is a hit whether you enjoy football or not. The sheer magnitude of the world’s largest indoor stadium combined with the mega-technology of the world’s largest flat-screen televisions and the world-class collection of art located throughout, make this excursion a one-of-a-kind experience. Ask the concierge to arrange this tour.

Custom Boot Fitting at M.L. Leddy’s

Don’t leave Texas without your boots on. Experience the storied history of the Fort Worth Stockyards at M.L. Leddy’s (since 1922), one of Texas’ legendary custom-boot fitters. Custom fit boots begin at $1,000 and can be as much as $25,000 a pair depending on design, skin and accessories.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is amazingly authentic and sophisticated in its retelling of one of the most tragic moments in American history—the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Visitors can take a self-guided audio tour of the downtown Dallas museum, which is just 15 minutes by car from the Resort.
