Top 5 Family Summer Experiences in Vail
Vail is probably best known for its deep powder, long runs, Nordic and alpine trails and après-ski nightlife. Yet in summer, Vail transforms from a high-end winter playground to the ultimate summer paradise for families.
A family Vail vacation very well could be the most fitting way to soak in summer. From fun-filled festivals and events in bustling Vail Village to family-oriented activities such as awe-inspiring hiking, exceptional mountain biking, world-class fly fishing and splashing around the pool, every member of the family will find something special to enjoy.
To get you started planning the perfect summer getaway in Colorado, Resort staff have compiled a list of five Vail family summer vacation experiences.
Vail offers an unbeatable biking experience. But you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the ride. Just head over to the Resort’s Adventure Concierge for assistance with the entire family’s bike rental needs. From classic cruiser bikes, to mountain bikes, to electric bikes and even Segways, bicycling in Vail has never been more fun. The Concierge can arrange a picnic lunch for the family to take along on the ride, and you can break for lunch alongside the Eagle River by Vail’s iconic covered bridge.
The rivers and lakes in Vail are perfect for kids to learn how to fly fish, and with free fly-casting classes offered in Vail Village, there’s ample help for all budding anglers out there. Expert anglers are available for half or full-day fly fishing excursions.
Take a Hike
In Vail, getting away from it all means putting on a good pair of hiking boots and trekking along the myriad amazing trails just steps away from the Resort. Hikes can be arranged with a private guide, guests can sign up for a group hike, or you can simply venture off on your own. A day of spectacular wildlife and mountain scenery awaits. The Concierge can assist with arrangements or customise a trail map.
Take a break from active days and relax by the Resort’s heated pool and two whirlpools. Complimentary snacks, such as fresh-baked brownies and cookies, are served daily poolside. And starting Memorial Day weekend, enjoy “Dive In” family movies shown poolside Friday and Saturday nights–along with hot dogs, hamburgers, S’mores and other treats.
Fantastic Festivals and Events
In summer, the enchantment of Vail Village becomes even more alluring with an array of fun festivals and events happening throughout the season. There’s never a shortage of things to do from free kids activities such as outdoor entertainment at Pirateship Park to exploring the Vail Farmers’ Market & Art Show. This summer, Vail welcomes the Teva Mountain Games, the Hot Summer Nights concert series, the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Fest, Vail America Days and much more.
