Located just a few miles west of Maui, Lanai is a beach lover’s paradise and a thrill seeker’s oasis. Waters this clear simply must be explored. Right outside Four Seasons Resort Lana‘i at Manele Bay you’ll find Hulopoe Bay, where tide pools carved from volcanic rock keep the water calm for snorkelling. Don’t be surprised to see teams of fish so colourful they seem unreal. Experienced divers can choose from more than 30 dive sites around the island.
Nearby, hike along the cliffs to discover Puu Pehe (Sweetheart Rock), a giant rock formation rich in Hawaiian lore. If you’re looking for a more rugged adventure, the 20.6-km (12.8-mile) Munro Trail heads through a rain forest and up to the top of Lanaihale, the island’s highest peak.
Make time to experience the small-town charm of Lana‘i City, loaded with Hawaiian mom-and-pop shops, art galleries, markets and restaurants. Just another day in paradise.
