Geneva
Have Some Family Fun
Geneva has a lot to offer the whole family. Take a boat tour called Beautiful Shores of Geneva, a 55-minute ride on Lake Geneva. Other activities include visiting the Natural History Museum, the Patek Philippe Museum, the United Nations Office and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum. Known as “the city of parks,” Geneva boasts some great ones, like Bâtie Woods, Bastions Park and Parc de la Grange. The Botanical Garden is another great spot for families. Or you can literally get your feet wet at Aquaparc, a water park in a tropical setting that features slides, wave pools and other opportunities to make a big splash.
Ski or Tour the Countryside
The outdoors beckons in Geneva. Try a day trip to Chamonix Mont-Blanc, where you can see the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier in France, and take the cable car up to Aiguille du Midi. Or take a day ski trip to Megève, Verbier, Gstaad—each a one- to two-hour trip from the hotel. Another option is to take the Golden Pass Chocolate Train from Montreux to Gruyère, where you can visit cheese dairies and a chocolate factory.
Make Reservations at Il Lago
Il Lago at Four Seasons has achieved its success by perfectly preparing the freshest of regional products. It is a very simple, delicious cuisine from the northern part of Italy. The ambience of the restaurant is romantic. Guests can enjoy their meals in a relaxed and informal atmosphere at the Bar or more formally in Il Lago.
Experience a Perfect Day
The perfect day in Geneva starts off with a jog along the lake or around a park. Then you take a private tour of the city, including Old Town, on foot or by chauffeured ride. Now it’s time for lunch at Il Lago, which offers fine Italian cuisine in a see-and-be-seen atmosphere. Afterwards, stroll down the Rue du Rhône, where you can buy shoes at Christian Louboutin and allow yourself a Swiss souvenir such as a watch. Treat yourself at Chocolaterie Auer with some delicious Amandes Princesses (chocolate-covered almonds) and visit the Patek Philippe Museum for a look at the history of watchmaking. Then head back to the Hotel for a massage at the Spa, followed by a cocktail such as the amazing Basil Martini at Le Bar des Bergues. Now it’s time for dinner at Domaine de Châteauvieux, which offers excellent service, a superb wine list and delicious French cuisine.
Take a Scenic Day Trip
Enjoy the Swiss countryside by visiting Lavaux’s Vineyard Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Generations of winemakers created these terraced vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. See the area by taking the Bern–Lausanne train or by helicopter.

Some other suggestions for Geneva:
- Great fondue is at Le Gruyerien in Chene-Bougeries
- Surprisingly good pizza at Da Paolo and Luigia, both reasonably priced for Geneva
- Quaint Carouge is the perfect place for a stroll and a coffee
- One of the best things about Geneva is how easy it is to take day trips. Gruyeres, Annecy, and Lausanne are all easy to do for a day or even just an afternoon.
- And when all else fails…. CHOCOLATE
here’s Geneva, only 30 miles from Annecy, France.
La Favola ristorante is my favorite lunch and dinner spots in old town Geneva. Their website sums it up well:
“Italian dishes, antique silverware
Elegant teapots from flea markets
Small glass-blown bottles from Murano…
A dollhouse decor
Unpretentious, delicious cooking from a kitchen
with a host of New ideas”
15, rue Jean-Calvin
1204 Genève
Another lovely and delicious place is Café du Marché in Carouge.
Place du Marché 4
1227 Carouge
Can we also suggest a train trip to Sion for the day. Beautiful views and lovely lunch
