Touring LA Like a Movie Star
During the #FSJet Twitter chat, one of the excursions most recommended in Los Angeles was the Paramount Studios Tour. Nothing could have felt more like being in Hollywood than getting a sneak peek at the stars arriving on set for television shows like Dr. Phil, Glee and NCIS: Los Angeles.
One hundred years of movie-making history is bound to produce some good stories. The tour of Paramount Studios included fascinating tales of big-screen icons. The working habits and business savvy of Lucille Ball are legendary here, as are the secret consultants kept on set to keep the real Mafia happy during the making of the Godfather trilogy.
One of the more interesting pieces of trivia I learned was that the term “star” for celebrities came from the tradition of adding stars to the Paramount logo when they signed new actors. After realising that they’d eventually have hundreds of stars, studio heads reduced the number to 22, representing the 22 actors who originally signed with the studio.
